On or about Friday, July 9th, 2021, around 2:22 in the afternoon, an accident between a pedestrian and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a 40-year-old woman from Stanislaus County. Officials from the CHP said the accident was reported along Volta Road in Los Banos, California.
Deputies from the Merced County Sheriff’s Office said 40-year-old Brandi Silva was killed when she was allegedly hit by a tractor-trailer as she was walking along or making an attempt to cross Volta Road. Paramedics pronounced Silva dead of her injuries after the accident, but it not clear if she died at the scene or after being rushed to a nearby hospital by EMS. Authorities identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as Fidel Alvarez, who was unhurt in the accident
According to Google Maps, Volta Road runs north and south along the western edge of Los Banos, which is about 121 miles southeast of San Francisco.
Police are still investigating the incident.
