56-Year-Old Brett Wagner was killed in a four vehicle collision involving three semi-trucks on Interstate 74, at mile marker 215, in Vermilion County, IL. Officials from the Illinois State Police say the crash took place around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2025.
According to reports, the crash occurred when one semi reportedly failed to slow as it approached an earlier accident. The semi struck the rear of the SUV driven by Wagner, pushing it into the trailer of the semi-truck ahead. After colliding with the SUV, the semi struck another semi-truck in the left lane, before going off the road and coming to a stop in the center median.
Wagner was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the first semi-truck was reportedly ticketed for failing to slow. Investigation into the accident is ongoing.
