On or about Tuesday, March 2nd, 2021, around 1:30 in the morning, an accident between an ODOT truck and a tractor-trailer sent a 32-year-old man to the hospital. State Police said the accident was reported in the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 in Bath Township, Ohio.
Authorities said a tractor-trailer allegedly drove off the northbound side of Interstate 75 and slammed into an Ohio Department of Transportation truck that was parked on the shoulder. Officials identified one person in the ODOT truck as 32-year-old Caleb Varhees, who was taken to St. Rita’s Hospital with unspecified injuries. No other injuries were mentioned by police in their initial statement.
Investigators noted the flashing arrow light board and emergency flashers on the ODOT truck were active at the time of the accident.
