On or about Wednesday, September 30th, around 9:10 in the morning, a tractor-trailer rollover accident sent a 40-year-old man to the hospital. Officials said the accident happened on the George Bush Turnpike near Jupiter Road in Richardson, Texas.
Police said that 40-year-old Charles Bogir was seriously hurt when he was struck by a tractor-trailer that allegedly lost control and rolled in a turnaround lane. Bogir was standing off the roadway and was struck by the truck as it rolled. Paramedics transported Bogir to a nearby hospital with serious head injuries.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was cited for failure to control speed following the crash.
According to Google Streetview, the George Bush Turnpike turnaround lane is a single lane that runs from the service road below the Turnpike overpass on Jupiter Road. Richardson is located about 17 miles north of downtown Dallas.
Police hope to release more information when it becomes available.
