Details:
On or about Thursday, October 8th, 2020, an accident between a car and a tractor-trailer resulted in two fatalities. The crash happened on Interstate 81 between the exits for Moosic and Montage, Pennsylvania.
State Troopers said that 32-year-old Chaz Bastone and 26-year-old Raven Lee were killed when a tractor-trailer driven by 57-year-old Greg Leksowski allegedly rolled down an embankment on Interstate 81 and crushed their car. Police responded to the scene of the accident near mile marker 180, just past the exit for Moosic. The accident scene took several hours to clear, and closed multiple lanes of traffic.
Moosic is located just south of Scranton. Google Streetview shows Interstate 81 is a mountainous stretch of road that is heavily wooded on each side. The lanes of the interstate are divided by a sloped median with northbound and southbound traffic at slightly different elevations.
Bastone and Lee died at the scene. Officials are also looking for a dog from their vehicle that may have run from the scene.
Police did not disclose why the tractor-trailer rolled down the embankment.
