On or about Tuesday, March 9th, 2021, around 8:20 in the morning, an accident between a cyclist and a work truck sent one person to the hospital with serious facial injuries. Deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office said the accident happened in a parking lot just off Maine Avenue in Lakeside, California.
Authorities said an as-of-yet unidentified cyclist was seriously injured when they were allegedly struck in the face by a large hook that was hanging off the equipment rack of a work truck. Paramedics freed the hook from the cyclists face and rushed them to a nearby hospital. Officers said the cyclist was impaled by the hook near the ear and jaw.
