On or about Tuesday, June 7th, 2022, around 6:30 in the evening, a hit-and-run accident between a cyclist and a passenger vehicle left one person dead. Local law enforcement representatives said the accident was reported along Old Tyler Road in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Authorities from the Texas Department of Public Safety said one as-of-yet unidentified cyclist was killed when they were allegedly hit by a passing vehicle as they were riding their bike alongside or made an attempt to cross Old Tyler Road. After the initial accident, the vehicle fled the scene. Paramedics pronounced the cyclist dead a short time after they arrived at the scene.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is in the 3300 block of Old Tyler Road.
Police are still looking for the driver and vehicle that fled the scene.
