On or about 9:33 in the morning on Tuesday, September 29th, 2020, 27-year-old Daniel Plebanek was killed in a chain-reaction accident with a box truck that happened in Bloomington, Indiana.
Authorities have said that Plebanek was killed when a box truck allegedly ran a red light at the intersection of Third and Indiana just before it struck a pickup truck. The force of the collision was significant enough to spin the pickup off the roadway when it struck Plebanek, who had been standing near the Circle K just off the roadway.
Paramedics rushed Plebanek to nearby IU Health Methodist Hospital where he died of his injuries the following day. No other injuries were reported by law enforcement.
Officers did not say what caused the truck to allegedly run the red light. Was the morning sun in the driver’s eyes? Was there a problem with the brakes?
