On or about Thursday, October 28th, 2021, around 10:00 in the morning, an accident between a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer hauling logging equipment sent a 64-year-old Houston woman to the hospital. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Highway 63 just outside Burkeville, Texas.
Law enforcement officials said 64-year-old Geraldine Rowe was seriously hurt when the car she was driving allegedly hit the back of a tractor-trailer that had stopped or slowed to attempt a turn off Highway 63. Paramedics airlifted Rowe to St Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries stemming from the accident. Officials identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as Louis Barnum, who along with his passenger, identified as Dewey Eddins, were unhurt in the collision.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 5 miles west of Burkeville, which is roughly 154 miles northeast of downtown Houston.
State and local law enforcement agencies responded to the scene of the accident.
