On or about Sunday, March 7th, 2021, around 11:00 in the evening, an accident between a log truck and a pickup truck left a 30-year-old man dead. Troopers from the ALEA said the accident happened along Interstate 65 near the exchange with Highway 160 in Hayden, Alabama.
Investigators said 30-year-old Herbert John Follett III was killed when his Ford F-250 pickup truck allegedly struck the back of a log truck. Emergency responders pronounced Follett dead of his injuries at the scene of the accident. Police did not mention any other injuries in their preliminary report.
According to Google Maps, Hayden is located roughly 30 miles north of downtown Birmingham.
Deputies from the Blount County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.
