On or about Thursday, June 2nd, 2022, around 1:25 in the afternoon, a serious accident between a pedestrian and a motorist left a 26-year-old man dead. Spokespeople from local law enforcement said the accident was reported along the Marsha Sharp Freeway in Lubbock, Texas.
Deputies from the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office said 26-year-old Jonathon Lopez was killed when he was allegedly hit by a passing motorist while he was walking alongside or made an attempt to cross Marsha Sharp Freeway near an overpass. Paramedics rushed Lopez to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after he arrived.
According to Google Maps. the scene of the accident is in the 3800 block.
Police are still working to pin down the cause of the accident.
