On or about Tuesday, April 13th, 2021, around 2:30 in the afternoon, an accident between a box truck and a car claimed the lives of three teens. Troopers from the ISP said the accident happened along Bluff Road just outside Valmyer in Monroe County, Illinois.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office said a box truck and a car driven by 18-year-old Joshua Moate collided under unknown conditions. Moate, a 15-year-old passenger, and a 13-year-old passenger were pronounced dead following the collision. Police said the box truck was southbound, while the car was northbound at the time of the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance north of Valmyer, which is about 31 miles south of St. Louis, Missouri.
Police are still investigating the accident.
