Details:
On or about Monday, October 18th, 2021, a hit-and-run accident between a pickup truck and an SUV left one man dead and sent three other people to the hospital. Investigators from the Bexar County Sheriff’s office said the accident was reported in the 3000 block of Northwest Loop 410 in San Antonio, Texas.
Officers said 55-year-old Juan Escamilla Jr. was killed when the Chevrolet Trailblazer he was riding in was allegedly struck from behind by a Ford F-150 that fled the scene. Emergency responders pronounced Escamilla Jr. dead of his injuries after the accident, while three other people in the Trailblazer were treated for injuries of an unspecified nature or severity after the accident.
Authorities have since arrested and charged Benito Almaguer III with failure to stop and render aid resulting in death, amongst other charges.
Police are still investigating.
