Details:
On or about Wednesday, March 10th, 2021, around 11:30 at night, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a car left a woman dead and sent a man to the hospital. Investigators said the accident was reported along the Gowanus Expressway in Brooklyn, New York.
Officials said 30-year-old Karen Diaz was killed when the car she was in allegedly struck the back of an 18-wheeler at a high rate of speed. Diaz died of her injuries at the scene of the accident. Police identified the driver of the car as 30-year-old March Dookhan, who was taken to the hospital with serious injuries stemming from the accident.
Law enforcement officials have since charged March Dookhan with DWI and refusing a breathalyzer in connection with the fatal crash.
State and local law enforcement assisted at the scene of the incident, which is still under investigation.
