Details:
On or about Friday, November 27th, 2020, around 5:00 in the afternoon, an accident between a delivery truck and a pedestrian sent a 66-year-old woman to the hospital. Investigators said the accident happened along Gardiner’s Bay Drive in Shelter Island, New York.
Officers said 66-year-old Lucille Morgan was seriously hurt when a delivery truck allegedly veered off the side of the road when the driver was distracted. Morgan, who was wearing a reflective vest at the time of the accident, was struck and rushed to the hospital by paramedics. She was later transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
Police said citations stemming from the accident are expected.
Google Maps shows Gardiner’s Bay Drive curves along the waterline through a residential area, and is heavily wooded on either side. Shelter Island sits about 106 miles east of New York City.
Officials are still investigating.
