On or about Wednesday, April 6th, 2022, around 4:12 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle left a 65-year-old woman dead. Authorities from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Highway 135 just outside Arp in Smith County, Texas.
Troopers from the Texas DPS said 65-year-old Mary V. Shoemaker was killed when the passenger vehicle she was in allegedly crossed over the center line of Highway 135 and collided with a tractor-trailer in the oncoming lanes. Emergency responders pronounced Shoemaker dead of her injuries a short time after the accident. Authorities identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as 60-year-old Marlow Charlton, who was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 1 mile northeast of Arp.
Officials are still investigating the accident.
