On or about Wednesday, April 21st, 2021, around 3:30 in the afternoon, an accident between a garbage truck and a city employee sent one individual to the hospital. Officers said the accident was reported in the 2300 block of Bayberry Street in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Authorities from the area said one as-of-yet unidentified city worker was injured when a garbage truck allegedly backed into them as they were nearby. Police indicated that the victim was a pedestrian, but later added the victim may have been in a vehicle at the time of the accident. Officers did not mention any other injuries stemming from the accident in their initial report.
Police cited the driver of the garbage truck for unsafe backing in connection to the accident.
According to Google Maps, the 2300 block of Bayberry Street is not far from the intersection with Shore Drive.
Police are still investigating the accident.
