Details:
On or about Tuesday, April 6th, 2021, around 2:00 in the morning, an accident between an 18-wheeler and a FedEx tractor-trailer sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries. Police said the accident happened along the eastbound side of Interstate 80/93 near Ripley Street in Lake Station, Indiana.
State Troopers said one person was airlifted to the hospital after an 18-wheeler allegedly slammed in the rear of a FedEx truck that was stopped in the eastbound lanes. Paramedics flew one person to University of Chicago Hospital with serious injuries. Police did not mention any other vehicles in their preliminary report.
According to Google Maps, Lake Station is about 38 miles southeast of downtown Chicago, Illinois.
Police are still working to determine what led to the accident.
