Details:
On or about Thursday, January 13th, 2022, around 2:00 in the afternoon, a hit-and-run accident between a pedestrian and a tractor-trailer sent one individual to the hospital in a helicopter. Law enforcement officials said the accident was reported along the westbound side of Interstate 10 in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana.
Spokespeople from the Louisiana State Police said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was injured when they were allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer as they were walking alongside or near the lanes of Interstate 10. After the initial collision, the tractor-trailer left the scene of the incident. Officials believe the pedestrian was on the side of the road for several hours after the incident. Emergency responders airlifted the pedestrian to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance from the Mississippi-Louisiana state line.
Officials are still looking into the cause of the incident.
