On or about Monday, January 11th, 2021, around 1:40 in the afternoon, an accident between an SUV and an 18-wheeler damaged a bridge and sent one person to the hospital. Authorities from the area said the accident happened on the southbound side of Interstate 680 in Youngstown, Ohio.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Department said one as-of-yet unidentified person was taken to the hospital after a Cadillac SUV and an 18-wheeler allegedly collided in the southbound lanes. After the initial collision, the truck or it’s load slammed into a pillar beneath the Mahoning Avenue overpass. One person was rushed to the hospital with unknown injuries after the accident.
Authorities closed north and southbound traffic of Interstate 680 between between State Route 711 and U.S. 62 in order to tend to the scene of the accident. Highway Patrol said the closure may last up to two days.
State and local law enforcement agencies are investigating the accident.
