On or about Tuesday, November 10th, 2020, around 5:45 in the morning, an accident between a box truck and a car left one person dead and sent another to the hospital. Authorities said the accident happened on Shady Grove Road in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
Investigators said one as-of-yet unidentified person was killed when a box truck allegedly hit their car on Shady Grove Road near Metro Access Road. After the initial collision, the box truck veered off the road and crashed into a wooded area. One person was pronounced dead after the crash, while the driver of the box truck was cut from the wreckage and taken to a nearby hospital.
Looking at the scene of the crash on Google Maps shows Shady Grove Road is six lanes, with a curbed median dividing north and southbound traffic. Gaithersburg is located about 26 miles north of the Washington DC metro area.
State and local law enforcement agencies are investigating the accident.
