On or about Thursday, April 22nd, 2021, around 9:45 in the morning, an accident between a garbage truck and a pedestrian left a woman dead. Officers said the accident happened at the intersection of Wantagh Avenue and Laurel Lane in Wantagh, New York.
Deputies from the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office said one as-of-yet unidentified woman was killed when she was allegedly struck by a garbage truck as she was walking in or near the road. Paramedics pronounced the woman dead a short time after the accident. Police did not mention any other vehicles in their initial statement.
According to Google Maps, the intersection of Wantagh Avenue and Laurel Lane is on the southern edge of Long Island in Nassau County.
Authorities are still investigating the accident.
