On or about Friday, January 8th, 2021, around 4:50 in the afternoon, an accident between a garbage truck and a car left one individual dead. Police said the accident happened at the intersection of Mauldin Road and Fairforest Way in Greenville, South Carolina.
Authorities said one as-of-yet unidentified person was killed when their car was allegedly hit by a garbage truck that was turning onto Fairforest from Mauldin. Emergency responders pronounced one person in the car dead of their injuries at the scene of the accident. No other injuries were mentioned by police in their initial statement.
Looking at the scene of the accident on Google Maps shows a Y intersection, with Mauldin running north and south, while Fairforest runs northeast and southwest. The intersection is located in the southern part of Greenville.
Police are still investigating the accident.
