Details:
On or about Sunday, May 29th, 2022, around 2:45 in the morning, a hit-and-run car accident between a pedestrian and a passenger vehicle left one woman dead. Spokespeople from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along the Bluewater Highway in Surfside Beach, Texas.
Representatives from the Texas DPS said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when she was allegedly hit by a vehicle as she was walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the lanes of Bluewater Highway. After the initial accident, the vehicle fled the scene. Emergency responders pronounced the woman dead a short time after the incident, but it is not clear if she died at the scene, or if she was rushed to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Authorities found the driver of the vehicle a short distance from the scene, and police have since charged them with intoxication manslaughter in connection with the crash.
Officials are still investigating.
