On or about Tuesday, February 8th, 2022, around 3:00 in the afternoon, an accident between a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer left one individual dead and sent another to the hospital. Representatives from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along U.S. Highway 70 in Lockney, Texas.
Deputies from the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed and another was injured when a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer collided under unknown conditions along U.S. Highway 70. Paramedics pronounced the driver of the pickup truck dead at the scene, while a second person was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. Authorities did not specify which vehicle the injured person was in at the time of the accident.
According to Google Maps, Lockney is about 57 miles northeast of downtown Lubbock.
Police are still examining the cause of the accident.
