One driver was killed and another critically injured in a collision that left over 100 gallons of fuel on Florida’s Turnpike in Port St. Lucie, FL. First responders with the St. Lucie County Fire District state the accident occurred around 11:25 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

Initial reports say the semi-truck collided with a concrete barrier before hitting the Tesla. The semi driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other driver was taken to a nearby trauma center with critical injuries. Over 100 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled across the highway, requiring several hours of cleanup. Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol are investigating the cause of the accident.
