On or about Monday, April 4th, 2022, around 10:45 in the morning, a serious accident between a school bus and a passenger vehicle left one person dead. Deputies from the Porter County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported at the intersection of 450 North and 650 West in Wheeler, Indiana.
Authorities from the Indiana State Police said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when the vehicle they were in and a school bus collided under unspecified circumstances at 450 N & 650 W. Emergency responders pronounced the driver of the passenger vehicle dead a short time before a medical helicopter could transport them to the hospital for treatment.
According to Google Maps, Wheeler is about 43 miles southeast of downtown Chicago, Illinois.
Authorities are still examining the cause of the accident.
