On or about Sunday, May 8th, 2022, sometime in the afternoon hours, an accident between a pickup truck and a passenger vehicle left one individual dead and sent seven other people to the hospital. Officials from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along State Highway 75 in Walker County, Texas.
Spokespeople from the Texas Department of Public Safety said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed and seven others were injured when a pickup truck allegedly sustained a tire blowout and crossed over the center line of Highway 75 when it struck a Chevrolet Malibu in oncoming traffic. Emergency responders pronounced a passenger in the Malibu dead after the accident, while the drivers of both vehicles, three juvenile passengers, and two adult passengers were taken to the hospital with injuries of an unspecified nature or severity.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is not far from the intersection with Mitchell Cemetery Road.
Police are still investigating the accident.
