Details:
On or about Friday, February 26th, 2021, around 5:00 in the afternoon, an accident between a tractor-trailer and two other cars left an 81-year-old woman dead. Officials from the WSP said the accident happened on the southbound side of Interstate 5 near 84th Street South just outside of Tacoma, Washington.
Investigators said a tractor-trailer was southbound on Interstate 5 when it allegedly struck a car driven by an 81-year-old woman. The woman’s car was subsequently pushed into a third vehicle driven by a 19-year-old. Paramedics pronounced the 81-year-old woman dead of her injuries a short time after the accident. Police did not mention any other injuries.
Authorities indicated the tractor-trailer driver was following too closely at the time of the accident, but did not indicate if citations were issued.
Washington State Patrol and Deputies from the County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
