On or about Wednesday, November 25th, 2020, just before midnight, a hit-and-run accident between a tractor-trailer and a pedestrian claimed the life of a 57-year-old man. Police said the accident happened in a bicycle lane on Highway 41 near 113th Street East in Bradenton, Florida.
Investigators said an as-of-yet unidentified 57-year-old man was killed when he was struck by a tractor-trailer that subsequently fled the scene. Paramedics rushed the victim to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Friday, November 27th, 2020. Police are looking for a red tractor-trailer in connection with the incident.
Google Streetview shows Highway 41 is four lanes, with a wide grassy median dividing north and southbound traffic. A bike lane is clearly marked with white paint on the roadway. Bradenton is located about 45 miles south of Tampa.
Florida Highway Patrol is assisting in the search for the truck.
