Details:
On or about Tuesday, March 16th, 2021, around 8:52 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and four other vehicles left two people dead and sent three others to the hospital. Deputies from the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office said the accident happened on the southbound side of Highway 87 in Cabot, Arkansas.
Troopers from the ASP said 70-year-old Phyllis Kerr and 90-year-old Clayton Meharg were killed when their Toyota Camry was allegedly rear-ended by a tractor-trailer. After the initial collision, the Camry was pushed into a nearby Ford Fusion, a Toyota Highlander, and a Dodge passenger vehicle. Kerr and Meharg died of their injuries at the scene. Paramedics transported 61-year-old Suzanne Bennett, 26-year-old Alaya Spivey, and an unidentified minor to the hospital with unknown injuries after the crash.
Highway 87 runs north and south through the center of Cabot, which is about 26 miles northeast of Little Rock, according to Google Maps.
Arkansas State Police are investigating the crash.
