On or about Wednesday, November 4th, 2020, around 8:50 in the evening, an accident between a pickup and a tractor-trailer left a 42-year-old Eastaboga man dead. Authorities said the accident happened on Interstate 59 near Fort Payne, Alabama.
Police representatives said 42-year-old Rodney Lee Gizzard was killed when his pickup allegedly hit a tractor-trailer under unknown circumstances. Paramedics pronounced Gizzard dead when they arrived at the scene of the accident. Officers did not report any other injuries.
Looking at the stretch of Interstate 59 north of Fort Payne shows a four lane interstate, with a wide, grassy median dividing north and southbound traffic. Fort Payne is located about 95 miles northeast of Birmingham.
