Details:
On or about Monday, January 11th, 2021, around 7:49 in the evening, an accident between an 18-wheeler trailer and a car left one man dead and sent a woman to the hospital in critical condition. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office said the accident happened at the intersection of Highway 23 and County Road 44 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.
Police from the area said 67-year-old Roger Schlack was killed and 60-year-old Lana Schlack was injured when their car allegedly collided with an 18-wheeler trailer that had disconnected as the truck was turning. The truck was allegedly turning from County Road 44 to southbound Highway 23 when the trailer disconnected. The Schlack’s car was northbound on Highway 23 when it collided with the trailer.
According to Google Streetview, Highway 23 is four lanes, with a wide, grassy median dividing north and southbound traffic. County Road 44 runs east and west, and has the only stop sign at the intersection.
Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
