Details:
On or about Tuesday, January 26th, 2021, around 10:00 in the morning, an accident between a pickup truck and a box truck left one man dead. Investigators said the accident happened along New Haven Road in Chesterfield Township, Michigan.
Michigan State Police spokespeople said 65-year-old Ronald Powers was killed when his pickup truck allegedly crossed over the center line of New Haven Road and struck a GMC box truck in the oncoming lanes. Several vehicles may have been involved in a chain-reaction accident after the initial crash. Powers died of his injuries a short time after the accident. The driver of the GMC box truck was treated for serious injuries.
According to Google Maps, New Haven Road runs north and south through the area with two lanes. Chesterfield Township is roughly 34 miles north of downtown Detroit.
Police are still investigating the accident.
