On or about Sunday, June 26th, 2022, around 2:30 in the morning a serious two-vehicle accident with a police patrol vehicle sent an officer and an 18-year-old driver to the hospital. Spokespeople from the EPPD said the accident was reported at the intersection of Transmountain and Rushing in El Paso, Texas.
Troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety said 18-year-old Saul Sifuentes and an as-of-yet unidentified police officer were injured when the vehicles they were in collided while the officer was on the way to an emergency call. Paramedics transported the officer and Sifuenetes to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries after the accident.
Police have said Sifuentes may have displayed signs of impairment after the accident.
Authorities are still looking into the crash.
