Details:
On or about Monday, May 30th, 2022, around 7:40 in the evening, an accident with an alleged drunk driver left a 19-year-old woman dead. Authorities from the Travis County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported along Interstate 35 in Austin, Texas.
Spokespeople from the Texas Department of Public Safety said 19-year-old Teresa Gonzales was killed when the vehicle she was in allegedly drove off the side of Interstate 35 and slammed into a tree a short distance off the pavement. Emergency responders pronounced Gonzales dead of her injuries a short time after they responded to the scene of the crash.
Officials identified the driver of the vehicle as 19-year-old Leo Anthony Carreto-Lopez, who has since been charged with intoxication manslaughter in connection with the accident.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene to assist after the accident.
