Details:
On or about Tuesday, October 13th, 2020, around 9:30 in the morning, a collision between a box truck and a tractor-trailer sent three people to the hospital. The accident took place at the intersection of Elwin Road and Highway 51 outside Decatur, Illinois.
Sheriff’s Deputies said that three people were injured when the box truck they were in allegedly ran a stop at the intersection when it collided with a tractor-trailer, driven by 61-year-old Robert Tokarz. All three people in the box truck were taken to area hospitals with a range of injuries. Tokarz was unhurt.
A look at Google Earth shows that Highway 51 is four lanes, while Elwin Road, which is governed by a stop sign – is two lanes. Elwin is located five miles south of Decatur.
Illinois State Police are aiding in the accident investigation, which is still underway.
