Details:
On or about Tuesday, October 20th, around 10:12 at night, an accident between a rolled tractor-trailer and an SUV sent a 47-year-old Marion resident to the hospital. The accident took place on Interstate 64 near the exit for Okawville in Washington County, Illinois.
Troopers said that 47-year-old Travis Akin was injured when the GMC Yukon he was driving collided with a tractor-trailer driven by Curtis Evans, who allegedly lost control and rolled into the lanes of oncoming traffic. Paramedics transported Akin to a nearby hospital where he was being treated for life-threatening injuries.
Curtis Evans did not report injures after the crash.
Examining the roadway where the accident happened on Google Maps shows that I-64 is four lanes divided by a grassy median, and runs northwest/southeast near Okawville, which is located about 43 miles southeast of St Louis.
The investigation into the accident is being handled by state and local officials.
