On or about Friday, October 30th, 2020, around 6:00 in the morning, a multi-vehicle accident involving a tractor-trailer sent two people to the hospital. Illinois State Police said the accident happened at the intersection of Route 53 and Biesterfield Road in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.
Authorities said that two people were injured when a tractor-trailer allegedly struck a disabled pickup truck and a nearby car assisting the pickup. One person in the pickup truck was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, while one person in the car sustained minor injuries.
Looking at the intersection on Google Maps shows that Route 53 is six lanes, with a wide, curbed median dividing north and southbound traffic. Biesterfield Road is two lanes that run east and west. The intersection is controlled by a stoplight.
