On or about Thursday, October 29th, 2020, sometime before 8:30 in the morning, a chain-reaction accident between four cars and four tractor-trailers sent two people to the hospital. State Police said the accident happened in the southbound lanes of Interstate 81 in Botetourt County, Virginia.
Police said that two as-of-yet unidentified people were injured when four cars and four tractor-trailers collided in a chain-reaction event that began under unspecified conditions. First responders treated two people for injuries of an unknown nature or severity after the accident.
Looking at the stretch of Interstate 81 where the accident happened on Google Earth shows a four lane roadway, with a heavily wooded median dividing the north and southbound lanes. Troutville is located about 16 miles north of Roanoke.
Police hope to release the findings of their investigation at a later date.
