On or about Saturday, April 16th, 2022, around 2:50 in the morning, an accident with a suspected drunk driver sent two police officers to the hospital. Spokespeople from the Travis County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported in the 600 block of 7th Street in Austin, Texas.
Local law enforcement representatives said two as-of-yet unidentified Austin Police Department officers were injured when they were allegedly hit by a vehicle while patrolling on bicycles on 7th Street. Paramedics transported the police officers to the hospital with injuries of an unspecified nature or severity.
Police have said that alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is near the intersection with Red River Street in downtown Austin.
