Conner Sanderson was killed after colliding with a semi-truck on US Highway 98 in Perry County, MS. Mississippi Highway Patrol states the accident took place around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. Sanderson, a 25-year-old native of Richton, was travelling west when he collided with the semi. The tractor-trailer, which was also heading west, was driven by 41-year-old New Augusta resident Antoine Weathers. Sanderson was pronounced dead at the scene, and the cause of the accident is under investigation.

While US Highway 98 is a four lane highway, while driving through Perry County it offers next to no shoulder. A driver attempting to avoid a crash would have to consider what going off the road and into the ditch could do to them.
